Most cakes can be replicated with the understanding that there will be some small differences in design as each cake is unique. A final decision on the degree of replication will be made after seeing the picture. One tier is comprised of 4 layers of cake and 3 layers of filling for many cake designs. Buttercream icing is the traditional spreadable icing. Fondant is a dough-like icing that is rolled out and draped onto the cake. Cakes iced with fondant have a layer of buttercream or ganache underneath. Cakes achieve a more flawless look with fondant than buttercream. Since each cake is custom made to order, each tier can be a different flavor. However, please keep in mind that if you do have multiple flavors, guests may want to try each flavor. Therefore, we advise that you order additional servings. Due to the fragile nature of cakes, they will not be shipped. We do offer dummy display cakes for sale at a small reduction in price compared to that of an actual cake. We do not keep decorated display cakes in stock, so a dummy cake would be decorated as needed . A large portion of the cost of the cake is in the time and skill involved with decorating; therefore, it does not matter whether styrofoam or actual cake is being decorated. In addition, if you are also purchasing sheet cakes to serve your guests, it will most likely cost you more than if you just ordered a wedding cake. Unlike chain stores that mass produce a small variety of standard design cakes, custom cakes are designed, baked, and decorated specifically for each client. These works of art take many hours to complete and for complex designs, days are needed. Some of the cakes seen on television actually take days to weeks to plan and prepare, not the 30-60 min of edited program actually shown. Although many of our cakes do not contain nuts, we cannot guarantee that traces of nuts are not present in our kitchen.
